Blue Aadhaar card – What is it and how to apply

Blue Aadhaar card

The term “Blue Aadhaar card” likely refers to a special category of Aadhaar cards issued to Indian residents. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to Indian residents.

There are primarily three types of Aadhaar cards:

  1. Blue Aadhaar Card: This type is issued to children below the age of 5. It carries similar information as an adult Aadhaar card but is marked with a blue background to easily identify it as belonging to a child.
  2. Regular Aadhaar Card: This is the standard Aadhaar card issued to individuals above the age of 5. It contains demographic and biometric information such as name, date of birth, address, photograph, and fingerprints.
  3. Masked Aadhaar Card: This type of Aadhaar card has the Aadhaar number partially masked, with only the last 4 digits visible. It is primarily issued for security and privacy reasons, to prevent misuse of the Aadhaar number.

These variations cater to different demographic groups and address specific needs, such as ensuring that even infants and young children have a valid form of identification.
